Helping students find a topic
  • Forget about the prompt at hand and establish informal conversation with student to talk about their interests, what makes them “them,” and then pick out specific things that might turn into a topic, keeping growth in mind.

  • Have specific questions in mind that typically cover CE prompts: What do you want a person to know about you? What makes you special? What can you say about yourself that your transcript cannot?
